GODDESS /  Amaterasu Omikami is the sun goddess. The inner shrine of Ise is dedicated to her. She was assigned to rule Takamagahara(The Celestal Plane). She was a very happy goddess but one day her brother, Susanoo,who was very mischievous, blew all the flowers in her garden away. When Amaterasu saw her garden in ruins she grew very depressed and hid herself in a cave behind a heavy door. The world became dark and cold,everyone became sick and depressed withought her sunlight. One day a female diety could not stand it anymore and started to dance lewdly in the dark.  Amaterasu heard the strange noises in her cave so she moved close to the door so she could find out what was going on. The strongest diety had been waiting at the door for her to approach. As soon as he saw the light from under the door he pulled on it with all his might. Amaterasu came out and sunlight was restored. This was the beginning of the country of Japan.
